Clinton, Christie Already Gearing Up for 2016 in NH?

Both potential presidential candidates are working to make sure the groundwork is in place should they decide to run.

It's still two years before the 2016 New Hampshire Primary, but some potential presidential contenders and their supporters are already working to ensure the groundwork is in place should they decide to run.

On Monday, Craig Smith, a senior adviser for the Ready for Hillary super PAC, visited the Granite State, meeting with New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley, union leaders and other political officials.

"It’s a small state where personal relationships mean a lot, and both Bill and Hillary Clinton have deep personal relationships with a whole lot of people in New Hampshire," Smith told the Associated Press. "That creates opportunities for us here."

Over the weekend, Nashua Telegraph political reporter Kevin Landrigan Tweeted that potential 2016 Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie sent Christmas cards to top GOP officials in New Hampshire and Iowa.

Of course, Christie's presidential chances have taken a hit this week due to the ongoing George Washington Bridge controversy, even though he says he had no knowledge of the scheme.

Several potential GOP presidential contenders visited New Hampshire last year, including Jon Huntsman, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul and Peter King. Donald Trump is scheduled to speak at the New Hampshire Institute for Politics on Jan. 21.
