Milford 'Carjacking Victim' Made The Whole Thing Up
Mari Chapman of Milford was arrested for lying to law enforcement about being carjacked last week.

A Milford woman reportedly lied about an attempted carjacking and led investigators on a wild goose chase, according to police.
Milford Police arrested Mari Chapman, 33 of of 31 West Street Unit#1, Milford for a false report to law enforcement today after investigation determined that she was not a victim of a crime.
Chapman had reported to police that a couple had tried to carjack her on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 15. She claimed that she was traveling south on Federal Hill Road and saw a car pulled over on the side of the road just south of Foster Road with its 4-way flashers on.

It was then that she told police she was attacked by the male driver, and provided description of him, a female suspect and the car they were driving.
A thorough investigation was conducted by the Milford Police Department, who determined that the attempted ‘carjacking’ did not occur and that Chapman was not the victim of a crime.

She even received minor injuries as she fended off the "attack" and was evaluated by Milford Ambulance. It is not known yet if these were self-inflicted or not.
Mari Chapman was released on $5,000 Personal Recognizance Bail and is scheduled for arraignment in the Milford District Court on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 08:30 a.m.
