Weekend Planner: Celebrate Latino Culture & Classic Cars!

1. Celebrate Latino-style! The 14th Latino Festival of NH is coming to Veterans Park in Manchester on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 11:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Latino Festival is now a major attraction in New Hampshire drawing audiences of up to 10,000 each year and growing. Not only does the Festival attract Latinos from throughout New Hampshire, it draws Latinos from Massachusetts as well as members of the broader community from throughout New England and beyond. The Festival includes live music and dancing from several Latin American countries, ethnic foods and arts and crafts among other events. Proceeds from the Festival benefit the Latinos Unidos Scholarship Fund. The Fund awards educational scholarships to deserving Latino youth pursuing post-secondary education. This is a free event.

2. Music! The NH Music Festival is coming to the Capitol Center for the Arts on Friday, Aug. 16 from 8-10:30 p.m. The festival will show the full grandeur of classical music under the baton of Music Director Donato Cabrera. They are celebrating their 61st season and will perform two concerts.

3. Play ball! The New Hampshire Fisher Cats will play against Trenton Thunder on Friday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. Head over to the Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, and catch the fireworks after! Don't forget to purchase your parking pass ahead of time. The Fisher Cats VIP Parking is the lot closest to the ballpark and spots are also available at the neighboring Langer Parking lot. On games with an Atlas Fireworks Show, sections 116 and 117 will be cleared late in the game to allow the fireworks show to take place.

4. Classic autmobiles! The Amherst Lions Club will host their Third Annual Antique Auto Show this Saturday, Aug. 17 in the Walmart parking lot from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. This unique show will showcase classic and antique cars alongside tractors and trucks. The show is free to spectators, but donations are accepted. Vehicles can be entered in multiple categories, including Best Tractor, Best Corvette, Oldest and Best of Show. An award ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. for winners in each category. Food will be available from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Jake's Ice Cream will also be on hand for cold, tasty treats. Money raised will be used towards community charities and causes.
