One of the most popular New Hampshire children's athletic events is once again upon us.
This weekend, hundreds of local youth from towns such as Milford will congregate in Windham for the 2013 Granite Kids Triathlon.
As "New Hampshire's largest kid-sized triathlon," the USA Triathlon sanctioned event, now in its fifth year, pushes participating children from ages 6-15 to swim, bike, and run at distances appropriate to their respective age groups.
The fun begins at 7:30 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 24, though participants are encouraged to arrive by 6:45.
First- through third-place awarded will be presented for each of the three divisions, though all of the roughly 150 childredn expected to participate will receive a finisher's medal.
The family-friendly event has already raised about $9,000 for local causes.
