5 Things: Dreamers Unite with Dream Track App

1. Starbucks Says No Guns, Please: Yes, it's a free country. No, Starbucks can't tell you what you can and can't carry in your holster while picking up your mocha latte. However, they strongly suggest you leave your gun behind when you visit their coffee shops, so says Chief Executive Howard Schultz, who says he doesn't want to put employees in the position of confronting armed customers. 2. NH Does Not Heart Miley's Twerking: According to some media reports, more complaints of indecency were filed with the FCC from New Hampshire following Miley Cyrus' Video Music Awards performance than from any other state. Here's a link to one such complaint posted on The Smoking Gun, from Goffstown –  which also includes five misspellings and some poor grammar. Hey NH, if you're going to complain to the FCC, at least check your spelling, please?

3. Google M.D.? This is the part where all those futuristic sci-fi movies start to feel familiar. Google is talking health and wellbeing, better living through technology, if you will. In a statement released Sept. 18 by the company, a new venture, Calico, would put a particular focus on "the challenge of aging and associated diseases." Oh, and Apple Inc. may be in on the deal.

4. Broken Pipe, Heal Thyself: A team of Spanish scientists recently created a polymer that can bind itself back together even after being sliced with a razor blade, without the help of a catalyst. This is the first man-made self-healing polymer to function without a catalyst, they report in the Sept. 13 issue of the journal Materials Horizon. It's nicknamed "Terminator" because it seems to be as resilient as the T-100 terminator robot from Terminator 2, the polymer was sliced in two in the research lab. You can watch a demo here.

5. Trouble Remembering Your Dreams? There's an App for That: Shadow, a new app recently launched on Kickstarter for funding, could be a convenient solution to the problem of forgetting our dreams. Even more, it could be the next big thing in crowdsourcing and self-discovery. Created by designers Hunter Lee Soik and Jason Carvalho, Shadow is an app that makes recording and remembering your dreams simple - you set the alarm which wakes you gently,  giving you a better chance of remembering your dream, which you can then document. Developers ultimately hope to create the largest dream database in the world.
