5 Things: Boston Marathon Do-Over; Blue Moon Tonight

1. Calling all 2013 Boston Marathoners Who Didn't Get to Cross the Finish Line: There are more than 5,000 of you. Registration began Monday and will be held through Aug. 29, for the 5,633 people who ran in this year’s Boston Marathon but never finished due to the marathon bombing incident. According to a blog post on Competitor.com, those runners don't need to submit a qualifying time, but the $325 entry fee is required. If runners have a valid qualifying time, they will will be able to enter a it between Nov. 1 and Feb. 1, but it is not required to gain entry to the 2014 race. Runners who do not enter before Aug. 29 will have the chance the enter through the qualified runner registration or through a charity.
2. Animal Lovers Unite: Walktoberfest meet-up tonight, 6 p.m. at Portland Pie Co., 14 Canal St., for those interested in participating in the October walk to help local pets.
3. Calling all cheerleaders! Grab your pompoms and register your team for Cheer for Dana-FarberSM, a new fundraiser that will help support adult and pediatric cancer care and research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. All New England cheerleading teams, including Pop Warner, middle and high school, and all-star teams, are invited to participate. The fundraiser officially kicks off on Sept. 2 and will conclude on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. Participants will receive official T-shirts, banners, cash collection canisters and posters. 5. Blue Moon Tonight: This month's full moon, which rises on Aug. 20, is not just a Blue Moon — it's also known as the Full Sturgeon Moon, the Full Red Moon, the Green Corn Moon and the Grain Moon.
Tuesday's moon qualifies as a "Blue Moon" because it's the third full moon in a season with four (most seasons have only three). Read more here at space.com.
