Rice: What 211 Can Do For You
Hudson GOP State Rep: 211 is not just a number; it's a lifeline for thousands of Granite Staters who need help due to an emergency.

In a state known for its tight-knit communities and rugged independence, it’s easy to forget that even the most resilient among us may need help. Whether it’s a family facing eviction, an older adult struggling to pay their heating bill, or a young adult quietly battling a mental health struggle, the need for support is real. For years, 211 NH has provided that support.
Two hundred eleven isn’t just a phone number. It’s a lifeline for our most vulnerable citizens. Available 24/7, 365 days a year, 211 provides free, confidential access to thousands of resources in communities across New Hampshire, in areas from emergency housing and food pantries to mental health services and utility assistance.

Each year, thousands of Granite Staters have turned to 211 for help with basic non-emergency needs, including housing and rental assistance, food support, and help with utility bills. These aren’t luxuries. They’re necessities. And for many, 211 is the first step toward getting back on track.
As the first point of entry to New Hampshire’s Doorway system, 211 connects people struggling with addiction with critical treatment and prevention services in nine locations across the state. Thousands of Granite Staters have taken that important first step in their recovery journeys by calling 211.

But 211 is more than a crisis tool. It’s a community connector. It helps people find local resources, make informed decisions, and navigate a complex system that can feel overwhelming at times. It’s especially important for those who may not know where to start—new parents, veterans, people with disabilities, or anyone facing unexpected hardship.
As we look ahead to the new year, we must continue to support the 211 help line, which provides critical assistance to our neighbors in need. It’s not just a safety net, it’s New Hampshire at its best – as shown by the caring, compassionate call center specialists who work tirelessly to connect Granite Staters with vital services.
So the next time you hear someone say, “I don’t know where to turn,” remind them: Start with 211.
