Alleged Burglar Caught in the Act, Again

During a daytime burglary attempt, Travis Laponsee was discovered inside a home on Blue Hill Avenue.

Travis Laponsee, 28, no fixed address, was arrested May 9 after he was caught in the midst of an alleged daytime burglary, and ended up in an altercation with a man who walked in on the alleged crime.

Laponsee is charged with one count of burglary, a class B felony; and two counts of simple assault, a class A misdemeanor.

This should have felt like deja vu for Laponsee, who was charged with a similar crime in October of 2012, after he was spotted with items he'd allegedly just taken during a burglary on West Hollis Street. A few days later Laponsee was again in police custody after he tried escaping from the hospital while still in police custody. He was there being treated for an ailment.

In this latest arrest, Nashua Police Lt. Michael Moushegian said that at noon on May 4 police were called to a residence on Blue Hill Avenue for a report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the officers were told that a man, later identified as Laponsee, allegedly broke into the residence and was discovered when a man came home and heard noises in the home.

The man, although not a resident of the home, was authorized to be there, Moushegian said. He tried to detain Laponsee until police arrived and ended up tussling with Laponsee.
