Back to the Future for Nancy's Diner Customer

New '50s-themed diner is open for business. Stop by and tell them Nashua Patch sent you.

Lesa Warner was 16 when she waited tables at the old Buffet Diner on Canal Street. On Thursday the tables were turned, as Warner enjoyed a pancake breakfast with her daughter, Amy Boisvert and granddaughter Hailey Boisvert at Nancy's Diner.

Warner, of Hudson, was among the first customers to sample the breakfast menu at the '50s themed diner, which officially opened for business Aug. 1 at 25 Canal St., formerly the Buffet Diner - and several other incarnations over the years.

Warner, now 57, said she liked the atmosphere, and her daughter said the food was good, and the price was right.

That's Exactly what owners Lenny and Nancy Abreu were going for when they set out to launch the diner, which they completely renovated in just two months.

"We are thrilled with the way everything came out. Nancy worked so hard to make sure every detail was just right," said Abreu, who was doing a little bit of everything in the first few hours after opening Thursday.

"We're working out the kinks as we go, and are looking forward to a grand opening soon," Abreu said. "In the meantime we hope people stop by and try us out, give us some feedback, and enjoy our restaurant."

The diner offers takeout and serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
