Comcast to Open Hudson Center by Summer
Comcast will hire 100 new positions by year's end for the new customer support center.
Comcast Cable announced Monday that it would open a new state-of-the-art customer support center in Hudson and create 100 new positions by year's end.
The center, to be located at 55 Executive Drive, will have the capacity for 600 employees, a third of those to be filled by December. It will open this summer.
The company made the announcement May 5 with Gov. Maggie Hassan and state and town economic development officials on hand.
In a press release, Hassan said the job creation shows New Hampshire is well positioned to lead the country in "innovative economic growth."
"This expansion will enhance Comcast’s significant contribution to our state’s economy, helping create good jobs that can support a strong middle class. I would like to thank Comcast for their commitment to the Granite State, and I look forward to continuing to work closely with the company to keep New Hampshire moving forward," Hassan said in the announcement.
Roger Coutu, chairman of the Hudson Board of Selectmen, applauded the Comcast decision.
"With easy access to vital highways and an outstanding workforce, this announcement reinforces what we’ve known all along – that southern New Hampshire is a great place to do business, and we’re pleased that Comcast’s presence here will help us underscore that message," Coutu said in the press release.
Employees at the new call center will provide support for Comcast residential products and services, initially handling calls from across the Greater Boston Region, which serves 1.6 million customers in New Hampshire, Maine, Eastern Massachusetts, Cape Cod and the Islands.
"This new facility represents our latest investment in the tools, technologies and people that will help improve our customers’ experiences with us," Steve Hackley, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Greater Boston Region, said in the press release. "When our customers reach this call center, they will be connected with agents who are best equipped to help with their specific needs."
The expansion means Comcast will have more than 1,700 employees in New Hampshire, and more than 5,000 across its Greater Boston region.
Comcast economic impact – in terms of total employee pay, taxes, training and health care – totaled nearly $170 million in 2012, according to the company.
Comcast will soon begin advertising and posting the new positions.
