Downtown Sidewalks Update: On Schedule, Weather Permitting

What's new and what to expect this week on Main Street.

Sidewalk update, Friday, August 16, 2013, as found on the city's website, gonashua.com.

During the week of August 12 the city continued work on the east side of Block 2 installing an additional street light foundation and granite planter.

Crews started forming pads and pouring concrete, two pads and the tip down were poured near Park Street on Aug. 16 and two pads were scheduled to be poured on Aug. 17. The mast arm street lights are working at the top of Library Hill and at the Canal Street intersection, with the Water Street intersection expected to be ready as of Aug. 16.

Installation of the skate stops on the granite planters were also done.

Week of Aug. 19:

Conduit work up the Eastside of Block 2 will continue, as well as the removal of the old sidewalks. Crews will install the next street light foundation and continue to form and pour more pads by the end of the week, weather permitting. The underground utilities continue to be a challenge and there will be some hand work that could take some extra time.
