Downtown Sidewalk Update: Work on Main, Temple Streets

Follow along with weekly updates from the Department of Public Works.

During the week of September 16:
Seven concrete pads were poured, including a tip down for the mid-block crosswalk on Block 2. Brickwork on aprons and in front of 100 Main Street on the East side continued, and street light poles were erected on the West side of Main Street.

The lights on the West side of Main Street should be lit by the end of this week.

Week of Sept. 23: Plan is to form and pour five concrete pads and continue the brick work. The plants will be placed in the planting beds. There is still a fair amount of work to do on Block 2, including removing a tree on Temple Street, moving the traffic box from Main Street to Temple Street, replacing a failing structure, and installing a tip down.

Please note that the roots from the tree on Temple Street have caused a structure to fail, are lifting the sidewalk, and are wrapped around the conduit. There is very shallow conduit which leaves little room to work. Schedule is tentative and subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Public Works Director Lisa Fauteux or Andy Patrician, Operations Manager, on site or by calling 589-3140.
