Discover 3D Printing @ Science Cafe NH in Nashua

Eat, drink and be thoughtful – come to our free science free-for-alls!


Our first Nashua gathering is tonight – Jan 16. from 6 to 8 p.m.


Topic: 3-D printing with the MakeIt Lab folks, who will bring a printer with them for a demonstration. The event will be held at Killarney’s Pub in the Holiday Inn on Northeastern Blvd., just off Exit 4.

  • Rob Riel is a maker, an inventor, a hacker and an engineer. Rob currently studies computer engineering at UMASS Lowell and specializes in embedded systems design. In his free time Rob is designing a large scale general purpose robotic platform, building a Jeep wrangler 4×4 and teaches Welding and Fabrication to beginners at the space.



  • Christian St. Cyr is an associate engineer at a small cellular technology company in Chelmsford, MA. He is currently pursuing a BSEE at night at UMass Lowell. Christian has helped teach classes on the Arduino and basic electronic projects and worked with members of dorkbot to collectively fund and build a shared 3D printer from one of the first comercial runs of the Makerbot. Christian was also the technical design collaborator on an installation version of the Drawdio that was shown at Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria and The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in TaiChung.


The third panelist is from Solid-Scape in Merrimack, which makes 3D printers for a variety of corporate uses:



  • John Wigand, Vice President of Product Development & Strategy. Wigand has been with Solidscape since 1994 when he joined as a co-founder of the company. Previously he was Director of Engineering and the software director for the Model Maker program. Before joining Solidscape,  Wigand worked at E-Systems designing military avionics and at Resource Consultants. Wigand holds both a BS and an MS in Mechanical Engineering.


Science Cafe New Hampshire is a grassroots effort to encourage informal, science-based discussion of issues critical to New Hampshire. Free, two-hour discussions, driven entirely by audience questions, are held on the third Wednesday of most months.
