Fill-a-Truck for Salvation Army

This coming Saturday, Dec 8th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Walmart stores in Amherst and Hudson are hosting Fill-A-Truck events for The Salvation Army.

Customers who want to participate will be given a wish list on their way into the store, then they will deposit the items in the truck on their way out.

For one day only, The Salvation Army will partner with the Walmart stores in Amherst NH and Hudson NH to host a “Fill the Truck” toy drive that will help provide new toys and coats to local children in need this Christmas. The event is open to the general public who would like to donate new toys and coats to children who take part in Salvation Army programs year-round. As they enter the store, Walmart shoppers will receive a list of suggested gifts to help fill The Salvation Army’s truck. Once the truck is full, The Salvation Army will bring the donations to their location at 1 Montgomery Avenue, Nashua NH and distribute the gifts to local children in need. The collection is expected to provide gifts to several hundred children.

Why: Walmart and The Salvation Army have partnered together for more than 30 years to help support people in need. This year, Walmart and Sam’s Club will once again host Salvation Army red kettles in front of their stores as part of The Salvation Army’s 122^nd Annual Red Kettle Campaign between November 23^rd and December 24^th. In 2011, Walmart and Sam’s Club helped The Salvation Army raise more than $10,000 locally, and more than $46 million nationally—nearly one-third of the record $147.6 million raised. All donations made to the red kettles and “Fill the Truck” events will remain in the local community and help The Salvation Army provide food, clothing, shelter, financial assistance and other services to more than 10,000 individuals.
