Hudson Fire Leaves 2 Homeless

The blaze was reported around 3:20 p.m. on Ferry Street.

UPDATE, 9 p.m.: Hudson firefighters on Tuesday, February 3, were alerted to a structure fire at 106 Ferry St. just after 3 p.m. Hudson Fire Alarm received three calls from the resident of the home and neighbors reporting the fire.

While en route to the scene, Deputy Fire Chief O’Brien reported heavy smoke showing from a distance coming from the building. First arriving firefighters found heavy fire showing in the rear of a 2½-story single family home. On arrival, Fire Chief Buxton struck a working fire, bringing additional Hudson and Nashua apparatus to the scene.

Fire crews made an interior attack through the rear of the structure finding a heavy fire condition in two first floor rooms. Additional crews were assigned to stretch hose lines to the second floor and attic to cut of advancing flames and complete primary and secondary searches for occupants. Firefighters were successful stopping the fire spread to the rear first floor of the home by an aggressive interior attack. One person was in the home at the time the fire was discovered and escaped without injury. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down 34 minutes after arrival of fire companies. There were a total of 25 firefighters and officers manning three engines, two ladders, two ambulances and two command vehicles. The building inspector from the fire department Inspectional Services also responded to the scene to assess the building's inhabitability. The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is under investigation. Preliminary fire loss is estimated at $75,000. Two adults will be displaced as a result of the fire.

Fire companies from Nashua, Londonderry and Litchfield covered the Hudson stations during the fire.
