UPDATE: Rescuers Investigate Car Found in Merrimack
A car was found submerged in 15-20 feet of water under the Sagamore Bridge.
UPDATE 3 p.m: According to Hudson Police the vehicle discovered submerged in the Merrimack River appears to have been in the water for some time, perhaps several months. The vehicle had silt on it as well as gravel pushed up against it from the river current. The vehicle was inspected by the Nashua Fire dive team and it appears to be a Dodge Magnum that was resting on its roof.
No occupants or remnants of occupants were found by the initial inspection.
The vehicle had no license plate evident at the time of the diver inspection.

More information on the owner will not be known until it is removed from the river and inspected for the vehicle identification number. The Department of Environmental Services will be handling the removal of the vehicle from the river. At this time the details surrounding the removal are not known. The removal date and time is unknown.
UPDATE 2:34 p.m.: Officials at the scene of a submerged vehicle in the Merrimack River have called off the dive team and are turning over the investigation to the New Hampshire Marine Patrol.

Initially the submerged car was discovered by a state bridge inspector who spotted the vehicle under 15-20 feet of water. Officials believe the car has been there for some time.
Currently officials area waiting for the Marine Patrol to arrive.
Original story posted 1:35 p.m.: Rescuers are on the scene of a car submerged under the Sagamore Bridge in the Merrimack River.
Nashua's dive team is assisting Hudson Fire and Police at the scene, heading into the water after a report of a car submerged in the water. Initially it was not known if the car was occupied. Rescuers have four boats in the river and there are about 20 firefighters including the dive team on the mission.
Emergency vehicles are stopped on the bridge but currently there are no traffic issues.
