A freon leak has interrupted business at the Hudson Market Basket, 211 Lowell Road.
Fire crews were called at about noon, and a Hudson fire truck remained parked outside the supermarket's main entrance as of 1:30 p.m.
Employees were camped outside, most finding a patch of grass to sit on while waiting to see if they'd be returning to work anytime soon. One group of employees were making the most of the perfect summer weather with a pick-up game of football, while another group tossed a Frisbee around in the grass next to the supermarket.
Customers were being told that the store would remain closed for at least the next hour by a store manager standing outside the front door.
