Man Charged in Downtown Burglary Spree

Charged with at least nine downtown business burglaries.

On September 18, 2013 the Nashua Police Department charged Calvin Degreenia, 27, last known address of 62 Myrtle Street, Nashua, with nine counts of Burglary, class B felony and one (1) count of Theft by Unauthorized Taking or Transfer, class A felony . Degreenia’s arrest is a result of an investigation conducted by the Nashua Police Department’s Burglary Investigation Unit (BIU).

From August 17 through September 06, 2013, there were 23 reported commercial burglaries in the downtown area. On September 6. 2013, Degreenia was charged with breaking into Fody’s Tavern, 9 Clinton Street. Subsequent to that arrest BI U was able to develop further information leading to an arrest warrant for Degreenia for a break in at the Car Parts Store, 15 Railroad Square. In addition to that incident they were able to charge him with eight (8) additional counts of burglary. Degreenia was at the Hillsborough County House of Correction at the time of his latest arrest.

Degreenia is charged with committing burglaries at the following locations:

  • Gray Nun Thrift Shop, 25 Marshall Street, reported on August 19, 2013; a second separate burglary was reported at the same location on August 20, 2013;
  • Thousand Crane, 116 West Pearl Street, reported on August 26, 2013, a second separate burglary was reported at the same location on August 30, 2013;
  • Bagel Alley, 1 Eldridge Street, reported on August 31, 2013;
  • Stella Blue, 70 East Pearl Street, reported on September 01, 2013;
  • Cravings, 64 East Pearl Street, reported on September 01, 2013;
  • Car Parts, 15 Railroad Square, reported on September 04, 2013;
  • Fody’s Tavern, 9 Clinton Street, reported on September 04, 2013; (arrested on September 06, 2013)
  • Dannelly’s Subs, 87 Allds Street, reported on 05 September 2013;
In each of these burglaries, they took place during the overnight hours and cash was primarily the item taken.

Degreenia refused bail and was to be arraigned on the new charges Sept. 19, 2013, in the 9th Circuit Court, Nashua Division.

The BIU continues to investigate the remaining unsolved burglaries and are currently following leads pertaining to other suspects.
