Man Fatally Shot By Nashua Police Identified As Heath Thompson
The 40-year-old Nashua man died from a gunshot wound to the chest after being involved in a confrontation with police on Marie Avenue.
NASHUA, NH — The identity of the man fatally shot by police has been released by the New Hampshire Attorney General.
He was identified as Heath Thompson, 40, of Nashua. At about 11:47 p.m. on Saturday, a 911 call was placed reporting in substance that there was a domestic disturbance at the residence of 49 Marie Avenue in Nashua and that an adult male had a firearm.
Officers with the Nashua Police Department responded to the residence and, outside the home, encountered the subject of the 911 call, armed with a handgun. At one point during the confrontation, one police officer discharged a less-than-lethal projectile, and three other police officers fired bullets at the man, officials said.

Chief Medical Examiner Jennie V. Duval has conducted an autopsy on Thompson. Dr. Duval determined that Thompson’s cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest, and the manner of death was homicide. As used by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, homicide is defined as the killing of one person by another.
The investigation by the New Hampshire Department of Justice and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crimes Unit into the officer-involved shooting is ongoing. Pursuant to protocol, the identity of the four police officers who fired at the adult male will not be disclosed until formal interviews have occurred.

New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit was at the scene throughout Sunday, processing evidence in the street and at a house near where the body was.
