Nashua Firefighters Battle 6-Alarm Blaze On Vine Street

Update: Firefighters from Nashua battled two building fires near the intersection of Vine and Nevada streets on Tuesday morning.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua fire and rescue teams, as well as other firefighters, are battling a multi-alarm fire on Vine Street.

Around 6:30 a.m., firefighters were sent to the three-story apartment building near the intersection with Nevada Street. The first responding firefighters confirmed seeing smoke from Lake Street and issued a working fire call. They also requested a second alarm after finding heavy fire on the third floor of the back of the building.

A few minutes later, a third alarm was called after firefighters discovered two buildings on fire.

While stretching hoses to extinguish the fire, firefighters searched the buildings and began evacuating tenants. Firefighters began putting water on the fire around 6:45 a.m. A fourth alarm was struck not long after.

At least two people were injured during the fire.

At 7 a.m., a fifth alarm was struck. The fire commander reported all companies were engaged with the fire and they reported heavy fire from both the second and third floors of both buildings. There was also a report that fire had spread to a third building. A few minutes later, a sixth alarm was struck, bringing in more firefighters.

Firefighters from Hollis, Hudson, Londonderry, Manchester, Merrimack, and Tyngsborough, Massachusetts, also assisted at the fire scene and with mutual aid, according to scanner chatter.
