Nashua Fixes Sinkhole, Warns Of Traffic Closure

As Nashua public works crews work to repair the city's aging utilities, they warn about upcoming road closures.

NASHUA, NH As crews conduct upgrades to the city's aging infrastructure, officials warn of traffic impacts to Main Street Friday. The northbound lane on Main Street will be closed at the intersection of Temple Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Public Works Public Relations Administrator Lauren Byers said the city is working on upgrading the infrastructure before Nashua can fully implement its 10-year paving plan. Some of the utility infrastructure is more than a century old. Just Wednesday, public works crews spent the day fixing a sinkhole that had developed on Manchester Street. The 3-foot-deep sinkhole was a result of the old sewer main, which had been in place since 1891, said Byers. It was the third sinkhole that public works crews fixed this year as part of emergency repairs.
