Nashua Special Election After President McCarthy's Passing

A Nashua special election will be held March 5 to select a replacement for former Aldermen President Brian McCarthy, who died in November.

NASHUA, NH — Nashua voters in March will select a replacement for former Board of Aldermen President Brian McCarthy, who died in November. A special election is set for March 5. Voting will be held from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the city's nine voting wards.

The filing period for candidates opens Jan. 24 and runs through Feb. 1. Candidates must submit nomination papers.

McCarthy, 64, was an at-large alderman who served on the board for 25 years. He was last re-elected in 2015. The winner of the special election will serve the remainder of that term, which expires at the end of this year.
