Nashua Woman Overcame Divorce, Poverty To Raise 3 Kids, Nurture Many

NASHUA, NH— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mom has helped me and my siblings through hard times; she has worked countless hours to make sure we have the best possible life, whether that be taking me and my friends to the beach or going thrifting with my siblings. She’s a shoulder to cry on, and a friend to talk to. She has always been there when things get tough, and she would never judge you for anything.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

My mom is a social worker at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, she won employee of the year in 2019, she has helped so many people get back on track with their lives. Along with that, she was the co-chair of the board at Gate City, charter school for the arts, helping the school open a playground for the kids. Now she runs teacher appreciation for Nashua High School North. My mom has raised three kids alone, through poverty and divorce, and she did a wonderful job. I’m sure anyone who is ever met my mom would agree that she is deserving of the best mom title. But what really makes my mom special is she would do anything for anyone no matter their race, gender or class. My mom is willing to take anyone in as their own, and has become a mother figure to so many young people.
