NH Pulls Dentist's License for 'Improper Infection Control'

NH state inspection of Manchester dentist said his practice posed "imminent threat to the life, safety and/or health of his patients."

The New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners has suspended the license of Nicholas Marshall Jr., an orthodontic practice in Manchester, for "improper infection control measures."

Attorney General Joe Foster and the board announced the suspension May 5. It was effective April 28.

An investigation into Marshall's practice at 835 Hanover St., Suite 202, concluded an "imminent threat to the life, safety and/or health of his patients," according to the Board of Dental Examiners.

The license was suspended immediately. A public hearing by the board is scheduled for May 22 to determine if Marshall's license will remain suspended.

The state investigation determined that the risk of infection for patients is very low, but the state Department of Health and Human Services is recommending concerned patients to speak with their health care provider about the possibility of being tested for HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.

Patients with questions or who do not have health insurance can call 603-271-9461 (1-800-852-3345 x9461) Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Only people who were patients of Dr. Nicholas Marshall Jr. are potentially at risk for possible exposure to blood borne illness," according to the Board of Dental Examiners.
