One Person Dead After Vehicle Crashes Into Utility Pole In Nashua
A driver was trapped inside a vehicle, surrounded by live wires, on the Daniel Webster Highway Sunday.
NASHUA, NH — One person has died in a single-vehicle crash involving a utility pole on Daniel Webster Highway In Nashua Sunday.
Nashua Fire Rescue, police, and AMR ambulance responded to a report of a vehicle into a pole with live wires down in the vicinity of 235 D.W. Highway just before 10:30 a.m. Police shut down the northbound lanes of highway at Spit Brook Road, and fire crews attempted to gain access to the person in the heavily damaged vehicle.
Multiple transformers and live wires on the vehicle prevented firefighters from accessing the scene. Eversource was notified of a priority response to the scene.

Due to the severity of the injuries, a MedFlight helicopter was requested to the area of the incident and landed, awaiting the patient's extrication. MedFlight landed at about 10:50 a.m.
At about 11:25 a.m., power was secured so firefighters and AMR personnel could access the patient. After evaluation, the patient was pronounced deceased at the scene, and MedFlight was returned to service.

DW Highway remains closed at this time and is expected to remain closed for several hours as crews work to remove the downed power lines and broken utility pole and police investigate the accident.
At this time, it appears there was only one person in the vehicle, and for unknown reasons under investigation, the vehicle appeared to cross the median from the southbound side to the northbound side.
The vehicle a Ford Bronco had Massachusetts plates, no information on the victim has been released at this time.
