Police Seek Nashua Teen Accused Of Stabbing Over Sneakers

Police said Dequan Hagen stabbed a 17-year-old in Tyngsborough after stealing sneakers during a botched deal.

TYNGSBOROUGH, MA — Police in Massachusetts are hunting for a Nashua teenager accused of stabbing a 17-year-old over a botched sneaker deal. Dequan Hagen, 19, is wanted on a host of charges, including armed robbery and assault. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Tyngsborough police at 978-649-7504.

Tyngsborough Police Chief Richard Howe said Hagen drove to that town Thursday night and met the teen on Frost Road to potentially buy sneakers. Instead, Hagen stole the sneakers and stabbed the teen in the stomach, according to Howe. The teen was seriously injured but expected to survive. He was medflighted to a Boston-area hospital.

Hagen fled the scene of a silver sedan, according to Howe.

"I want to reassure Tyngsborough residents that this was not a random crime," Howe said in a statement. "We have no reason to believe that the public is in danger, and we are working aggressively with our law enforcement partners in the area to locate and arrest this suspect as soon as possible."

Hagen was charged with armed robbery, home invasion, two count of assault and property destruction over $1,200.
