Ten nominees will be inducted May 7.

The Nashua Athletics Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the following ten nominees have been selected for induction into the Hall of Fame on Sunday, May 7, 2023. This will be the 12th Nashua Athletics Hall of Fame induction and the first in person induction since November 1999. The 11th Hall of Fame induction was held virtually in the spring of 2021.

The Nashua Athletics Hall of Fame proudly presents the Class of 2023:

Ed J. Lecius – contributor
∙ 50 years broadcasting Nashua High Athletics on WSMN & WMVU
∙ Supporter of Nashua High Athletics through the Lions Club and other avenues
∙ Youth sports advocate
∙ Retired in 2020 from the Nashua Police Department as the Community Policing Coordinator.

Arthur Kobs – coach, Nashua Senior High School and Nashua High School North
∙ Nashua School District teacher and coach for more than 35 years.
∙ Has coached basketball, cross country, and track at Fairgrounds Junior High School, Nashua Senior High School, and Nashua High School North.
∙ Several individual and team championships in Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track. ∙ Mentor to hundreds of student-athletes.

1987 Girls Basketball Team
∙ Ranked #1 nationally by USA Today in 1987
∙ Ranked #18 by MaxPreps in 2020 in the top 25 girls’ basketball teams of all time.
∙ Nationally ranked 5 times; won 108 consecutive games.
∙ Won 3rd consecutive NHIAA Class L championships in 1987 (program went on to win the next two as well). ∙ The team was coached by John Fagula* and assisted by Sarah Rolfe. Team members included: Missy Ayotte*, Joy Barry*, Stephanie Byrd*, Michelle Grenier, Laurie Largy, Celeste Lavoie*, Michelle LeBoeuf, Becky Shrigley, CJ Stuart, and Maryse Veilleux. (Those with * are members of the Nashua Athletics Hall of Fame as individuals.)

Femi Ayi – student-athlete Nashua Senior High School Class of 1998
∙ Dominant defensive football player.
∙ Captain of 1997 Championship football team.
∙ Full athletic scholarship to the University of Delaware.
∙ Also participated in wrestling and track & field.

Michele Cernuda – student-athlete Nashua Senior High School Class of 1995
∙ Three-sport athlete (soccer, basketball, softball) in high school.
∙ NH Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year in 1995
∙ Earned multiple division 1 scholarships for both basketball and softball. Eventually chose UNH for basketball. ∙ Coached with John Fagula then was head basketball coach at Alvirne High School for several years.

Phil Greenwood– student-athlete Nashua Senior High School Class of 1993
∙ Three-time Class L Cross Country Champion. Two-time NH Cross Country Champion. New England Cross Country Champion 1992.
∙ Several Indoor and Outdoor track distance records and championships.

Mike Grilakis – student-athlete Nashua High School South Class of 2009
∙ Three-sport athlete in football, wrestling lacrosse.
∙ New England Champion wrestler.
∙ Started collegiate career on a wrestling scholarship at University of Missouri before transferring to UNH.

Robyn Proctor Selent – student-athlete Nashua Senior High School Class of 1984
∙ Individual state and New England track champion.
∙ Member of the New England Championship team in 1984.
∙ Competed in track at the University of Vermont.

Jim Tebbetts – student-athlete Nashua Senior High School Class of 1963
∙ Football and baseball competitor in high school.
∙ Pitcher on 1963 Baseball championship team.
∙ Inducted into the Legends of Holman Stadium in 2019.

Matthew Valuk – student-athlete Nashua Senior High School Class of 2003
∙ Track athlete that helped Nashua win the indoor and outdoor Class L championships in 2003. ∙ Several individual championships and holds several school records.
∙ Competed in track at Northeastern University.

Hall of Fame festivities will begin by recognizing the inductees at the North vs South baseball game on Friday May 5, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Holman Stadium (weather permitting). The Hall of Fame induction will take place at an afternoon reception at the Courtyard Marriott in Nashua beginning at noon on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
