Two Charged with Abusing 8-year-old

An exam revealed the 8-year-old boy had bruises over various parts of his body. He and a 6-year-old are now in foster care.

Nashua police have charged two people with physically abusing an 8-year-old boy in their care.

Katlyn Marin, 25, of 14 Oak St., Nashua, and Michael Rivera, 30, of 526 Abbott Farm Lane, Hudson, were arrested May 5 on warrants for second-degree assault, a Class B felony.

Another child, a 6-year-old, may also suffered abuse, without signs of physical injury, according to police.

The arrests stem from the Nashua Police Department's Special Investigations Division following up on a report last month from the state Division of Children, Youth and Families of the possible abuse.

The 8-year-old boy had bruises on his forearms, and examination revealed additional bruises over various parts of his body, according to the report.

The children were placed in foster care.

Marin was charged with second degree assault, class B felony, and simple Assault, class A misdemeanor.

Rivera was charged with two counts of second degree assault, class B felony and one count of simple assault, class A misdemeanor. 

Marin and Rivera were transported to the the Valley Street Jail, with cash bail set at $25,000 for Rivera and $10,000 for Marin. They are scheduled to be arraigned May 6 at the 9th Circuit Nashua District Court.
