Two Nashua motels may be investigated for living conditions.
The Country Barn Motel and Temple Street Hotel are both being looked at by city Alderman-at-large Jim Donchess.

City Alderman-at-Large Jim Donchess believes the Country Barn Hotel and Temple Street Motel are in need of an investigation committee.
The Country Barn Hotel was recently on an episode of “Hotel Impossible” and was seen to have bed bugs, insufficient bathrooms, and a lack of windows. Donchess says he wants those problems addressed and thoroughly vetted “Are there improvements that could be made to the city’s health department and building codes that could require better living conditions? We need to be informed,”
Tom Laviole owner of the Country Barn Motel says that he is working to renovate and cabins on the grounds and that any drug use found at the hotel immediately results in guests being thrown out.

Temple Street Motel is said to have emergency personnel respond to the facility around 1,000 a year for a variety of calls including overdoses and domestic disputes among many others.
Alderman Donchess says Temple Street Motel could be unsafe or in violation of codes and Mayor Donnalee Lozeau agrees that the motel has been a significant problem for many years.

Both motels receive welfare assistance as many of the residence use these temporary residences as permanent or transient housing.
