New Hampshire's Ridge RTC Welcomes New Executive Director

William Hutchinson Joins Residential Treatment Center

Milton, NH – September 11, 2024 – The Ridge Residential Treatment Center (RTC) in New Hampshire today announced the appointment of William Hutchinson as Executive Director. With over a decade of diverse experience in healthcare, technology, and finance, Hutchinson brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for recovery to his new role.

Hutchinson, who holds a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Vermont Grossman School of Business, began his career in financial management and strategic planning at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Stamford, Connecticut. His extensive experience in these fields has been further enhanced by his personal journey as a member of the long-term recovery community, providing him with unique insight into the challenges faced by residents in substance abuse and mental health treatment.

Before joining The Ridge RTC, Hutchinson served as Chief Operating Officer at Foundation House and Tradecraft 12 in Portland, Maine, where he managed a 60-patient facility. His responsibilities included overseeing clinical services, business development, program development, financial planning, human resources, and compliance. His leadership was instrumental in achieving significant advancements, such as the implementation of additional clinical levels of care, successful accreditation by the Joint Commission on Healthcare Organizations, and securing in-network contracts with major insurance payers, which greatly improved client access to services.

A key priority for Hutchinson in his new role will be to build on the importance of The Ridge RTC’s in-network contracts, which are crucial in providing affordable and immediately accessible care to a broader range of families, ensuring that more teens in need can receive the high-quality treatment they deserve. Hutchinson’s significant experience in the Northeast will be instrumental as he seeks to expand the center’s capacity, bringing more access to life-changing treatment for teens across the region.

Will’s vision for The Ridge RTC includes the development of a robust clinical, medical, and direct care staff. He is committed to assembling a team of highly skilled professionals dedicated to delivering the best possible care. This initiative is part of his broader goal to continuously enhance the quality of services provided at The Ridge RTC, ensuring that residents receive comprehensive and compassionate support throughout their recovery journey.

Hutchinson is a strong advocate for experiential therapy, which emphasizes the importance of clients connecting with each other and with nature, as well as engaging in physical activity as part of the healing process. "Experiential therapy plays a critical role in recovery," said Hutchinson. "It allows clients to break down barriers, connect with their peers, and find solace in nature. Hutchinson lived the past eight years in Portland, Maine, where he enjoyed spending time on the water, ski slopes, and at the rink. Now local to the Milton area, he is eager to bring his extensive experience and innovative vision to The Ridge RTC, guiding the organization to new heights and making a positive impact on the lives of those it serves.
