All eyes are on Tokyo for the Summer Olympics, but locally in New Hampshire, the Olympics have gone to the dogs. The NH Dog Walking Club – which brings dogs and their people together for exercise, education, and socialization in a positive, welcoming, and fun environment – is hosting its first annual Doggy Olympics fundraiser from July 23rd – August 16th, including opening and closing ceremonies.

This Doggy Olympics will offer pooches of all shapes, sizes, and abilities the opportunity to try new things, learn additional skills, and reach personal goals. The event features physical and mental events for pet participants. Physical competitions include dock diving, water fun competition, obstacle course & field games, canine fitness, and bubble catching. Mental challenges include howling contests, longest sit, treat toss, longest tail, ice cream eating contest, talent show/best trick, sensory explorers, and more.
Events will be held at a variety of locations around the NH Seacoast, including the Mall at Fox Run, Friendly Pets Dog Park, and K9 Kaos. Pups can participate in group events as well as individual activities for dogs that need a bit more space.

Pet professionals from local businesses – dog trainers, pet photographers, canine fitness experts, animal communicators, veterinarians, etc. – will host and judge different competitions. Pup participants will compete for awards in each event as well as gold, silver, and bronze medals.
Expert members who are offering the events include You and Your Dog Training & Services, Miss Behavior Training, Canine Strong, Barrington Barks & Behavior, Jody Crotty Soul Level Animal Communicator, Pet Supplies Plus - Somersworth, NH location, Friendly Pets, Lee, NH location, and Sit.Stay.Smile. Pet Photography. Sandra McCarthy Photography will be on-site at many events, and her professional digital images will be available for sale after the Doggy Olympics ends. All funds from Sandra’s photo sales will be donated to the Charitable Partners’ Program.
The cost to participate in five activities is $35/dog. (Club members save $10/ticket with a special discount code.) Additional activities can be added at a discount. The dock diving competition with Seacoast Dock Dogs is an additional $25.
Proceeds raised from this event will benefit the organization’s Charitable Partners’ Program, which this year supports Mary’s Dogs, Hero Pups, and Live and Let Live Farm. The Doggy Olympics will be a great visual/photo opp for media.
