Police Arrest Man on Felony Parole Violation, Add Marijuana Charge
Portsmouth police say the man was wanted on violation of parole related to a burglary of the Cabot Street Market in 2009.
Portsmouth police arrested a man wanted on a felony parole violation and added a charge of possession of marijuana June 5.
Police said Jose Rivera Morales, 26, with a last known address of 12 Wedgewood Road in Portsmouth, was taken into custody in a business in the Vaughan Mall downtown in connection with violation of parole related to a burglary of the Cabot Street Market in 2009.
The arrest led to another charge of possession of marijuana.
The incident began when Portsmouth police received information that Morales was staying on Wedgewood Road. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate him. Upon further investigation, officers learned he was possibly downtown near the Vaughan Mall. Plain clothes detectives and patrol officers located Morales in a business and took him into custody, police said.
Morales is being held without bail on the parole violation and he is scheduled to appear in court June 6.
