64-Year-Old Man Dies After Shooting Incident At Derry Restaurant

John Kratz Jr. was rushed to the Elliot Hospital, where he died. A suspect police were searching for was taken into custody in North Hampton

DERRY, NH — Derry Police, fire, and EMS responded to a report of a gunshot victim at the Lobster Claw II restaurant on South Main Street Wednesday.

After the scene was secured by police fire crews who are stationed just yards from the scene began treatment of a man with a gunshot wound and rushed him to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester just before 6:00 p.m.

A BOLO (Be-on-the Lookout) was issued for a man identified by name by the police and was driving a silver Cadillac STS. After several hours the vehicle and suspect were located and after a short pursuit, he was taken into custody at gunpoint in North Hampton.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office and Derry Police Chief George Feole said that the man transported to the hospital was John Kratz, Jr. 64, and he died from injuries.

The AG went on to say though the investigation is in its early stages, there does not appear to be any threat to the general public in connection with this death. An autopsy is expected to be conducted on Thursday. Additional information will be released as it becomes available while protecting the integrity of the investigation.
