2. DELIBERATIVE SESSION IN TWO DAYS: A reminder that the town deliberative session will take place at the Salem High School auditorium on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

3. ONE MORE DAY TO FILE: Our update on Wednesday morning showed over a dozen people filing for town and school offices in Salem. The deadline for filing is when offices close tomorrow at Town Hall (town ballot) or the Superintendent of School's office (school ballot).

4. THIS DAY IN HISTORY: U.S. President Harry S. Truman publicly announces his decision to support the development of the hydrogen bomb, a weapon theorized to be hundreds of times more powerful than the atomic bombs dropped on Japan during World War II.

5. CHINESE HACKERS TARGET NYT: The New York Times reported on Thursday that the paper has been persistently attacked by Chinese hackers in the last four months. The hackers have infiltrated the paper's computer systems, getting passwords of reporters and other employees. Learn more here.
