Hassan, Ayotte to Visit Salem Medical Firm

Gamma Medica officials will hold ribbon cutting ceremony at company that specializes in digital molecular technology to detect breast cancer.

Gov. Maggie Hassan, U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte and State Senate President Chuck Morse will attend a ribbon cutting ceremony at Gamma Medica's new facility on Friday morning.

Jim Calandra, president and CEO of Gamma Medica, Inc. and other federal, state and local dignitaries in a ribbon-cutting celebration welcoming Gamma Medica to New Hampshire, according to Marie Campinell, the firm's marketing director.

Gamma Medica specializes in advanced digital molecular imaging technology and its product the LumaGEM® Molecular Breast Imaging (MBI) system enables the early detection of breast cancer, according to Campinell.

The ribbon cutting will be held in commemoration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Friday beginning at 10:15 am at 12 Manor Parkway, Unit 3, she said.

Approximately 40 percent of women have dense breast tissue which makes presently available mammography screening unlikely to identify early-stage cancers, Campinell said. Gamma Medica provides a leading-edge technology designed to aid breast radiologists in diagnosing difficult cases, particularly in women with dense breast tissue, she explained.

Campinell explained that Gamma Medica recently moved to New Hampshire and is comprised of 25 employees with excellent imaging technology experience and expertise in the areas of research and development, product design and engineering, manufacturing, regulatory, sales and marketing and clinical trials.
