Lowell, MA Man Hospitalized After Monday Shooting Outside Salem Mall

SALEM, NH —A 19-year-old man from Lowell, Massachusetts suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting Monday night outside a Salem mall, the Salem Police Department said.

Police did not name the victim, whom they said was taken to Parkland Medical Center. The SPD said the shooting was not random and that there was no threat to the public after the incident outside the Mall of Rockingham Park, 99 Rockingham Park Blvd.

According to police reports, at about 6 p.m. Monday, SPD officers responded to a report of shots fired outside the mall with people fleeing the scene on foot and in cars.

Officers arrived at the scene and observed evidence of a shooting, the department said.

Shortly thereafter, the SPD said it received reports that a man had walked into an Urgent Care facility on Stiles Road suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to Parkland Medical Center by Salem Fire Department personnel. The SPD said its detectives also accompanied the victim to the hospital in order to continue the investigation.

The SPD said that the investigation remains active and anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Detective Robert Farah at 603-893-1911.
