Morning Explosion At Home In Hampstead Felt One Mile Away
No one was seriously injured in the explosion on School Street Friday. Firefighters extinguished several small fires due to the explosion.
HAMPSTEAD, NH — Hampstead fire, and police responded to a report of an explosion on School Street on Friday.
Responders arrived at 7:05 A.M. and found a single-family home with significant damage and debris spread across a large area, and smoke and fire coming from the structure. Firefighters worked to extinguish several small fires that appear to have started due to the explosion
Two residents were assisted by the fire department to escape from the house and one of the residents sustained minor injuries but was not transported by ambulance to the hospital.

The garage doors and other debris from the house were blown across the street. Hampstead residents who lived as far as a mile away posted on social media that they felt vibrations from the explosion.
Several agencies responded to the 1 alarm fire, and also provided station coverage including Salem, Derry, Atkinson, Londonderry, Sandown, Plaistow, Danville, and Trinity Ambulance.

Hampstead Police Department also assisted with traffic control while School Street was closed while investigators worked at the scene.
The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation by the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office, in conjunction with the Hampstead Fire Department.
