Motorcycle Crash Friday in Derry Claims Life of Hampstead Woman

DERRY, NH – A Fourth of July motorcycle crash in Derry claimed the life of a Hampstead woman and injured her husband.

The incident occurred yesterday, at approximately 5:38 p.m., at the intersection of East Derry Road and Pond Road. Derry Police Department officers responded to reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and found a 2006 Harley-Davidson in the roadway. The driver, Colin Hanlon, 57, of Hampstead, was found responsive with multiple injuries. His passenger, identified as Erin Hanlon, 56, also of Hampstead, was located in the roadway and was unresponsive.

Derry Fire Department personnel and Derry police officers immediately began administering emergency aid to both individuals at the scene. Mr. and Mrs. Hanlon were then transported by ambulance to Elliott Hospital. Upon arrival at Elliott Hospital, Mrs. Hanlon was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The intersection of East Derry Road and Pond Road remained closed for several hours while the Derry Police Accident Reconstruction Team conducted an on-scene investigation. The roadway was reopened shortly after 10 p.m.

The collision remains under investigation. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the Accident Reconstruction Team Commander, Lt. Chris Talbot, at christalbot@derrynh.gov.
