(bostonglobe.com) — Salem firefighters were among many departments that rushed to help battle a devastating New Year’s Day apartment fire in Manchester that has now claimed the life of a 5-year-old girl. The blaze displaced about 50 residents, injured several others who have since been released from the hospital, and remains under investigation by state fire officials.
