Plea Deal Expected for Woman Who Drove at Salem Officer

A plea deal is expected in the case of the Massachusetts woman who fled from police in July and drove at a Salem officer, according to the Salem Observer.

According to the paper, Sabrina Tofsky, 30, of Stoneham, Mass. is expected in court on March 6 for a plea and sentencing hearing rather than going to trial. Her two felony counts of reckless conduct carry a 3 1/2- to 7-year maximum sentence.

at about 10:31 p.m. and saw two vehicles in the lot of Movie Scene and Devanti's Pizza after business hours. McPherson pulled in and confirmed one vehicle belonged to a Devanti's employee.

He went to check on the second vehicle when "it took off at a high rate of speed toward the Plaza exit but on the wrong side of the traffic island," according to police.

McPherson pulled up to the vehicle and asked the female operator, Tofsky, to pull over. Police said she said no, cursed at McPherson, rapidly accelerated, spun her tires and took off south on Route 28.

McPherson followed her down Route 28, where police said another officer was out signaling for her to pull over. 

"The female turned towards the officer and proceed to drive thru the intersection narrowly missing striking the officer," police said.

Tofsky was "eventually forced to pull over" near Bemister's Pools on Route 28. Police said she had to be physically removed from the vehicle and was placed into custody without further incident.
