Salem Chief at Center of Gun Raffle Controversy

The Boston Globe reported the news today.

The Boston Globe reported today that Salem Police Chief Paul Donovan is at the center of a controversy involving guns being given as raffle prizes.

According to the paper, Donovan serves as president of the N.H. Association of Chiefs of Police. The raffle is scheduled in May and will give away a gun each day during the month.

In a statement, Donovan offered sympathies to the families and first responders of the Newtown, CT massacre and argued that the issues with the shootings are contrary to responsible gun ownership.
