Salem Cop 'Extremely Proud' to Help Special Group of Kids
Salem Police Sgt. Tom Kench and his wife Maria will soon use a big event in their lives as an opportunity to help a group of children in need.

Salem Police Sgt. Tom Kench and his wife Maria will soon use a big event in their lives as an opportunity to help a group of children in need.
When the Kenches step off in the 2014 Boston Marathon, they'll be running their first full marathon while benefitting the Cops For Kids With Cancer charity, which donates funds to local children and children from all over New England in order to help them with their medical bills.
Tom Kench hopes to raise at least $12,000 between now and the marathon, which is on April 21.
"I am extremely proud that we will be working to raise funds and help create awareness for families that have children fighting cancer," reads the message posted by Tom Kench on his fundraising page.
"Although we have experience in running, this will be our first full marathon and we are prepared to make the training commitment to ourselves and most importantly to the Cops For Kids With Cancer organization as they continue to help families now and into the future."
