Salem Police Log: Teen Lost On School Trip, Psych Patient Flees

Missing teen, fleeing patient and utility pole cracked in half in a car accident were among items listed by Salem police Aug. 12 to Aug. 25.

SALEM, NH — A 17-year-old who went missing on a Salem school field trip to Nashua and a psychiatric patient who temporarily fled from an ambulance exchange are among items recently reported by the Salem police. Also, a utility pole on Zion Hill Road was cracked in half by an impaired driver, according to police. The following is a selection of items listed in the Salem police logs for Aug. 12 to Aug. 25.

Monday, Aug. 12

Rudys Bautista, 41, of Methuen, Massachusetts, is charged with organized retail crime and willful concealment of items valued at more than $1,500.

Extra patrols are requested on Meisner Road after suspicions that someone is dumping extra soil onto a man's yard. Identity theft via Verizon Wireless is reported. Police also counsel a group of minors setting off fireworks at Hedgehog Park. The group moves along.

Tuesday, Aug. 13

Samuel Vasquez Jr., 20, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, is charged with bail jumping. Nicholas Diphillipo Jr., 25, of Methuen, is also charged with bail jumping.

A fight is reported at Canobie Lake Park, and someone turns in old ammunition to the police.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

Jamie M. Yandle, 36, of North Billerica, Massachusetts, is arrested on a warrant and charged with bail jumping. Michael R. Fontaine, 50, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, is charged with two counts of receiving stolen property valued at more than $1,500 and theft by deception of property valued at more than $1,500. After a domestic disturbance on Mary Ann Avenue, 31-year-old Carolyn Laura Lee, of Salem, is charged with simple assault.

A police cruiser is struck by a vehicle at the intersection of South Policy Street and Raymond Avenue. A two-car accident with possible injuries is reported at the intersection of South Broadway Street and Cluff Road. Injuries also result from a single-vehicle rollover crash on Northeastern Boulevard.

For the second day in a row, extra dirt is reported on Meisner Road, but now it appears it's from an animal digging up a man's yard. Also, woman relinquishes two guns at the police station. On Graham Avenue, there are low hanging wires due to a dump truck that pulled on them and is no longer in the area. Comcast is notified.

Thursday, Aug. 15

Shortly after 1 a.m., Justin Michael Jones, 31, of Rochester, is charged with bail jumping and two counts of contempt, and is arrested on a bench warrant. James R. Chase, 51, of Manchester, is charged with contempt. Cheyene R. Robertson, 19, of North Andover, Massachusetts, is charged with transporting alcohol by a minor.

At Cumberland Farms, someone reports a driver without a valid license. Police later find the vehicle at Jocelyn's restaurant. The driver, 41-year-old Diosdado Grullon, of Salem, is arrested on charges of driving under the influence and driving after revocation or suspension.

McDonald's on South Broadway Street reports damage to its door after a man kicked it early in the morning. At Red Roof Inn, someone asks police to take her grandmother's gun and police comply. At Canobie Lake Park, a woman is reportedly intoxicated with her two children and a teen nanny, and the woman's husband drives from Maine to pick her up.

Friday, Aug. 16

Stephanie Lemus, 18, of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, was charged with willful concealment after a shoplifting report at Walmart.

A 17-year-old male is reported missing from a school trip in the area of 809 Grill in Nashua. Also, a smoke-filled basement is reported on Messer Avenue around 9:43 a.m. And Comcast arrives to Bridge Street to fix wires down in a driveway. A hit-and-run is reported on North Policy Street and a structure fire is reported at LL&S Wood Products.

Saturday, Aug. 17

Flavia Ferreira De Oliveira, 43, of Methuen, is charged with willful concealment at Walmart.

In the wee hours of the morning, two people are fighting in the road on Granite Avenue. Police take them into custody for the night, citing they are highly intoxicated and not cooperating with officers. Also on Granite Avenue, a person reportedly attacks two people shortly before 5 a.m. The suspect's vehicle is later found by police in Londonderry. At least two people in the incident are taken to local hospitals — Parkland Medical Center and Holy Family.

Also early morning, a woman reports being assaulted and thrown out of the car on Interstate 93 the previous night. The woman says she was stranded on the highway gathering her things until she was able to flag down a driver who brought her to a friend's home in Salem. The actual assault took place in Everett, Massachusetts.

At the Mall at Rockingham Park, security officials ask for a police officer to help disburse a large crowd gathered for a shoe release. And Cluff Crossing Road sees three late-night noise complaints for loud music and a barking dog.

Sunday, Aug. 18

In the first hour of the day, a woman walking on North Main Street waving down vehicles and a car driving on the wrong side of I-93 are reported. Later in the morning, a bicycle and a blue Chevrolet are involved in an accident at the corner of Helen Road and Old Rockingham Road. The bicyclist checked his bike and rode away, according to a caller.

A pregnant woman is taken to the hospital for prenatal precautions after a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of North Broadway Street and Old Rockingham Road. Minor injuries result in the crash.

No arrests reported today.

Monday, Aug. 19

After a noise complaint over loud music on Therese Road shortly after 10 at night, fire officials arrive to do a "voluntary transport," but then police arrest 43-year-old Brian Michael Smith, of Salem, on disorderly conduct and resisting arrest or detention charges. Also, after report of a dispute at the I-93 rest area, 36-year-old Robert Timothy Jacques, of Atkinson, is charged with stalking and breach of bail, and arrested on a bench warrant.

Tuesday, Aug. 20

Bartosz Piotroski, 38, of Dracut, Massachusetts, is arrested on a bench warrant. David Padovani, 44, of Salem, Massachusetts, is also arrested on a bench warrant. And after a report of a "known shoplifter" loading a shopping cart at Lowe's, Justin Louis Farinato, 38, of Groveland, Massachusetts, is arrested on two willful concealment charges.

Wednesday, Aug. 21

A person is taken to the hospital after an accident near Park View Inn. No arrests reported today.

Thursday, Aug. 22

Four people from New York — Anthony Manuel Pineda, 20, of Ozone Park, Renin Reynoso, 19, of Queens, Devin Manuel Lopez-Dominguez, 19, of Queens, and Dennise Lopez-Dominguez, 21, of Bronx — are arrested on a theft by deception charge after a TD Banknorth employee reports someone trying to cash a $6,000 check — a request that was denied.

On Green Avenue, someone reports their house was "ransacked" in a burglary. Jewelry and pills are missing.

Friday, Aug. 23

Thomas X. Gormley, 65, of Methuen, is charged with altering or forging a controlled drug prescription. Maria A. Posey, 62, of Salem, turns herself in to police on a warrant on credit card fraud involving more than $1,500.

At Red Roof Inn, fire officials treat a man who suffered an overdose and was found during the morning not waking up, but breathing. The man was then brought to Holy Family Hospital. Salem police help Windham police with a vehicle drug search. Also, a missing person is located at Hill-Brook Motel. He is in good health, just doesn't want to speak to his parents.

Saturday, Aug. 24

After a vehicle strikes a utility pole on Zion Hill Road, cracking the pole in half, 60-year-old Janet L. Antonuccio, of Salem, is charged with driving under the influence.

Shortly before 7 a.m., a woman says she might have been drugged the previous night while out drinking. Members of the Salem Fire Department gain entry into her home and take her to Parkland Medical Center.

Sunday, Aug. 25

At McDonald's on South Broadway Street, Trinity EMS arrives to pick up a psychiatric patient from another ambulance company, but the patient has fled. The patient is later found.

A pedestrian is taken to Holy Family Hospital after being struck on a bicycle near the South Broadway Street Market Basket. Salem police also help Windham police investigate a hit-and-run in their town.

No arrests reported on this day.
