Scott Brown Pumps Gas, Talks Energy
Brown gets a shout-out from businessman Kevin Waterhouse, a state lawmaker and owner of Waterhouse Country Store.
U.S. Senate candidate Scott Brown pumped gas into his GMC pickup and kicked off his "Making Energy Affordable" tour at Waterhouse Country Store in Windham on June 2.
"As we head into the summer, hardworking families remain frustrated with high prices at the pump. I support an all of the above approach that will keep more money in our wallets and help families plan for the future. With prices already too high, I oppose Senator Shaheen's national energy tax that will cost thousands of jobs and increase gas prices up to 20 cents per gallon."
Brown produced a white paper on his plan, which calls for increasing domestic production, energy efficiency and renewable energy production.
Kevin Waterhouse, the store owner and a Republican state representative for Windham, says he hears from customers about the high cost of fuel.
"Our country needs a sound energy policy to drive down prices and encourage energy independence so people can save more each time they fill up their tanks," Waterhouse said in a press release. "I appreciate Scott Brown's efforts to secure affordable energy."
Energy is a hot topic in the U.S. Senate race over the past month, including allegations that Brown personally asked senators to vote against an energy efficiency bill co-sponsored by U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), the senator he wants to replace.
Brown has dismissed the idea that he was actively lobbying to kill the bill, but Granite Staters may hear more of it with a television ad by the Senate Majority PAC accusing Brown of putting his own job ahead of those in New Hampshire.
