Spring Cleanup In Salem This Saturday

This Saturday community members are invited to help clean up the Bike-Ped Corridor as part of Salem's annual spring cleanup event.

SALEM, NH — Local residents are invited to join in to help clean the bicycle-pedestrian corridor in Salem. The annual spring cleanup event is being held this Saturday starting at 9 a.m. Those interested in participating should meet at the trail parking lot on Route 28 at the Salem-Windham town line. Volunteers will join the Friends of the Salem Bike-Ped Corridor as they clean up gardens, pick up trash and clean up small branches.

The annual cleanup event will take place in two phases, starting at the parking lot and running south to Main Street at Tuscan Kitchen, town officials say. The cleanup will last for about three hours, put participants are welcome to stay for a shorter amount of time if they wish. Water, gloves, trash bags and some tools will be provided. Volunteers are welcome to bring any grass rakes, clippers and pruning shears if they are able. Those interested in participating may contact Larry Belair at Lbelair@comcast.net or call 603-560-7500. Volunteers may also just show up the morning of the event.

The following Saturday, June 1, community members will also have a chance to participate in the National Trails Day Salem Town Forest Trails Cleanup, taking place 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will be busy with brush and tree trimming, and trash pickup. They are asked to bring gloves, loppers and bow saws.
