Supervisors Of The Checklist Of Salem Will Be In Session On Oct. 29

At the session, residents can register to vote in the general election. They also can register at the Town Clerk's office and at the polls.

SALEM, NH — The Supervisors of the Checklist of Salem have announced they will be in session on Oct.29, in order to register new voters for the Nov. 8 general election.

The session will take place from 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. on the lower level of the town's Municipal Office Building, located at 33 Geremonty Dr.

According to Kelly Anne Dortona, a member of the Supervisors of the Checklist, residents of Salem who will be 18 years of age by Nov. 8 may register to vote at the Oct. 29 session if they have the proper documentation.

New Hampshire election law also allows a person to register to vote at the polls if they present the required documentation: A picture ID and proof of domicile, though a driver's license also is acceptable.

Naturalized citizens must show a passport or documented citizenship papers in order to register to vote, according to Dortona.

Additionally, residents have the opportunity to register to vote with the Town Clerk, located at the Municipal Office Building, at any time during regular office hours through October 28.

Dortona reminds residents that the law requires voters to cast their ballots at the polling area where they are listed on the checklist.

If an address change is necessary, it can be done at the Town Clerk's office through Oct. 28, or at the Supervisors of the Checklist session on Oct. 29, according to Dortona.

"If voters arrive at a polling location different from the one listed on the checklist, they may be asked to go to their original polling place," Dortona said.

Copies of the current voter checklist are available to view at the reference desk at the Kelley Library, located at 234 Main St., and at the Town Clerk's office.
