Suspended Sentence Could Come in Facebook Taunting Case

The Union Leader reported today that a Salem man who was allegedly responsible for gathering up his friends and going to the home of a man who was taunting him on Facebook has reached a plea agreement.

According to the report, 21-year-old Shane Delandy, who was one of three men indicted on felony burglary charges last year, could get a pair of suspended jail sentences that would last one year. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and criminal threatening.

The incident stemmed from a dispute between Peters and Delandy, with Peters making comments on Facebook that Delandy sold drugs.

Police said two men from the car went to the door with baseball bats and began smashing the doors and windows and were able to force their way into the home.

Peters retreated into the home and grabbed a large knife in the kitchen, and police said a "violent physical confrontation" ensued. Police said one of the males who entered the home was stabbed several times.

That individual was determined to be Rui Conde, 27, of Salem, who has since been charged with burglary and attempt to commit second degree assault.

Conde received a 1- to 3-year prison sentence for the felony burglary charge.

Three others were arrested in the case.
