Woman Nearly Hits Officer After Driving Through DWI Stop

A total of eight people were arrested during the six-hour stop.

Police arrested eight people, including one woman who nearly hit an officer, during a sobriety checkpoint Friday night into early Saturday morning.

A total of 150 vehicles were checked during the DWI stop, which took place on Route 28 between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m.

Evelyn Santiago, 37, of Hyde Park, Mass. was charged with aggravated DWI and disobeying a police officer.

Santiago drove through the checkpoint, and after nearly striking an officer, state troopers and Salem Police were able to stop her a short distance from the checkpoint area and taker her into custody.

In addition, three Salem residents were arrested. 

Thomas Brisendine, 26, was charged with transportation of a controlled drug.

Linda Fagerstrom, 64 was charged with DWI.

John Silva, 51, was charged with DWI subsequent offense.

Also charged during the stop were Matthew Debreceni, 20, of Londonderry for transportation of a controlled drug, Kyle Dowd, 32, of Lawrence, Mass. for possession of a controlled drug, Ashley Church, 22, of Derry fo possession of a controlled drug and Sean Oakes, 48, of Seabrook, N.H. for DWI subsequent offense and transportation of a controlled drug.

One summons was also issued for operating without a license and numerous warnings were also given.

The sobriety checkpoint was the combined effort of New Hampshire State Police Troop B and Salem Police.
