Woman Says Son Locked Her in a Bathroom, Threatened to Kill Her

Shaun Driscoll, 28, was arrested Saturday in Salem on three charges. He also faces charges in Nashua.

A Nashua man is accused of locking his mother in a bathroom, forcing her to take him to a drug buy and threatening to kill her after he was arrested in the Salem Walmart parking lot Saturday.

Shaun Driscoll, 28, faces Nashua charges of domestic violence –kidnapping and armed robbery. Both are Class A felonies.

In Salem, he faces charges of criminal restraint and criminal threatening/deadly weapon, which are both Class B felonies and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor.

Police responded to the Salem Walmart at 2:34 p.m. for reports of an employee saying that a customer ran to them stating that her son was threatening her.

According to Salem Police, they made contact with the 67-year-old victim. The woman told police that she was attacked by her son on July 12 in Nashua.

At that time, she said he threatened her with a knife. The woman said she was also locked in her bathroom earlier that morning from 1 to 9 a.m.

She explained that her son later took her from her house in Nashua, forcing her to drive to Lawrence, Mass. to buy heroin and withdraw money from an ATM. The woman said the two then left Lawrence and drove to the Salem Walmart.

She said that her son told her to stay by her side and if she tried to run away, he would kill her with a knife. While her son was distracted looking at guns in the store, the woman reportedly escaped and made contact with the employee.

When police responded, the suspect took the victim's car and was located in the upper parking area of Walmart by Salem police.

A bayonet knife was recovered inside the victim's car.

Nashua Police detectives later responded to the Salem Police Department for interviews.

After Driscoll was arrested, he was booked and released into the custody of the Nashua detectives, where he also faces charges.

Driscoll's bail on the Salem charges is $2,000 personal recognizance.

The Class A felonies are each punishable by up to 15 years in prison, exclusive of fines. He is being held on bail pending arraignment in the 9th Circuit Nashua Division Court on July 15. Driscoll's Nashua bail was set at $100,000 cash.
