Blasting Work on I-93 in Windham

DOT: Expect traffic delays during blasting on I-93 and Route 111 areas.

Blasting work near the interim southbound lanes on Interstate 93 at Exit 3 in Windham is beginning, New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced.

The work is needed to accommodate the new alignment of the northbound off-ramp.

Blasting will occur as needed from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., from now until the end of July.

State Police will deploy rolling road blocks to slow southbound and northbound traffic during blasting operations. DOT says minor delays could occur during these times.

Southbound on-ramp and Route 111 traffic will be temporarily stopped during the blasting. Extended ramp and 111 closures may also be required to allow crews to safely remove blasted ledge.

DOT reports that this work is part of the construction of the final northbound I-93 roadway alignment and Northbound Ramps in the vicinity of Exit 3.  Weaver Bros. Construction of Bow, N.H., is the general contractor for the $32.2 million project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2016
